英译水调歌头·咏萧华将军兼怀《长征组歌》
Prelude to Water Melody
— In Praise of General Xiao Hua and His "Long March Chorus"
Red banners blazed in Fujian and Jiangxi,
He joined the army in boyhood, fierce and free.
Through the Xiang River's bloody fight he pressed on,
By the Yi Sea, he forged a pact, a bond never gone.
Riding the Taihang slopes to drive out the foe,
Fighting in the northern snows, where fierce winds blow,
At Liaoshen, he drew his mighty bow.
Through a hundred battles, his heart and soul were laid bare,
His righteous spirit pierced the rainbow's glare.
Then he took up his brush, grand and bold,
To chant the epic of warriors old,
Recalling their long, bitter march—
Each word, a tear, engraved from the heart's deep arch.
The Premier's earnest words still ring,
The soldiers' faithful memories cling—
His melodies stand like pines in spring.
This torch of fire passes from hand to hand,
Its timeless echo fills the land.
